Hi, I’m Teresa.

I’ve spent my life helping ideas land where they matter. In classrooms, strategic communication campaigns, and sometimes just on the page.

I’ve worn a lot of hats. I worked in strategic communication for nearly a decade, then shifted to academia, where I research and teach about the power of communication, and I continue to explore creative storytelling in all its forms. Along the way, I’ve learned that the most impactful ideas come from curiosity, courage, and connection.

This is where my work in all its forms lives. Academic research, strategic communication projects, creative explorations. Each project is guided by a simple principle: make ideas matter, make them human, and share them in ways people can actually use.

Through research and teaching, I uncover the heart of ideas; through writing and creating, I help them find their place in the world.

I write to explore questions I care about and translate research into stories. My work is guided by curiosity, courage, and the hope that thoughtful ideas can make life a little more meaningful.

Here I share research that feels relatable and relevant, teaching and advocacy that feel possible, and writing and creativity that spark curiosity. Sometimes messy, sometimes reflective, always with a touch of humor and heart. Pull up a chair. You are welcome here.

Research

My work spans both the strategic communications industry (e.g., public relations, advertising, and marketing) and academia. Here, you’ll find summaries of research projects, publications, and campaigns I’ve contributed to. Each reflects my approach: thoughtful, creative, and human-centered.

Teaching

I love teaching because it is a conversation, not a lecture. Drawing on nearly a decade of working in strategic communications, I help students see how ideas move in the real world and how research connects to everyday decisions.

In my classroom, we explore ideas together, ask the hard questions, and make space for curiosity. I focus on helping students connect theory to practice, understand research in meaningful ways, and discover their own voices as communicators and storytellers. Every class is an opportunity to spark curiosity, encourage courage, and share the joy of learning.

Writing

This is a space where curiosity leads the way. I write about the ideas, questions, and stories that grab my attention from the subtle power of communication to the creativity that sparks change. Here, research is relatable, advocacy is actionable, and everyday observations are turned into stories worth sharing.

It’s a place for readers who like thinking deeply, laughing quietly, noticing the small details, and discovering something new in the middle of an ordinary day. Consider this your invitation to explore, question, and create alongside me.

A Year to Linger with Questions

Artwork: Peggy Bacon, Lingering Memories, 1954. Open Access, The Met Collection. The start of a new year always feels like a little miracle. The calendar flips, and somehow the past is behind us, and the future is, for a moment, full of possibility. I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want to carry forward…
